QSAC Paved National & Championship

Beginning with the 2017 race year, QSAC decided to make a big shift in its “National Championship Series” race format. This shift was made with the hope of accomplishing a multiple tasks; allow racers from across the country to meet in one location to compete against one another over the course of three separate events; decrease costs to the racer by decreasing travel from four-to-six events across the country to one single venue, once a year; allow regional series between 3-5 extra possible weekends for scheduling their own series; allow racers more opportunities to race locally or regionally; and to crown a true National Champion in each class with racers represented from across the country.
While the departure from the NCS format was discussed at great length, QSAC leadership weighed the pros and cons and decided to give the National Championship event a chance.

Historically speaking the idea and theme for a race of this nature did not start with any one individual, but rather numerous individuals with a common thought of having everyone gathering together for a big event. In no particular order, credit goes out to a handful for their input, influence, and foresight to see the possibilities of having a “National Championship” event; Steve Bess, Joe DePinto, Todd Holloway, and Noal Templeton.
With the inaugural National Championship now just a memory, we are looking to build upon the success of 2017 in our future National Championship events. We hope you will consider attending the National Championship and look forward to this event in the coming years.
Starting with the 2022 event, the traditional QSAC National Championship will be renamed as the QSAC Paved National Championship!

QSAC and Dirt Track Racing; where and when did it all begin?
Back in 2004, Scott George started racing 1/4 scale sprint cars on dirt in Pennsylvania. Scott continued his pursuit of racing a quarter scale on dirt and did his best to share this form of racing with other through the forum on HobbyTalk.
In early 2007, Scott George reached out to one of the QSAC Co-Chairs at the time about the idea of a QSAC Dirt National event. This became the first "Official" QSAC Dirt National and set the path for where we are today. This first QSAC Dirt National was held in Aliquippa, PA for two consecutive years. This track was owned by WoO Sprint racer, Tim Schaffer.

The next few years saw the QSAC Dirt National hosted at Dave Smreker's Timberline Raceway in Kansas, as well as stops at Coody Creek in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Other tracks along the way include Large Scale R/C in Monon, Indiana and BMI Speedway in Versailles, Ohio.

All of this background leads takes us to 2017. 2017 is when the QSAC Dirt Nationals started to really take a leap forward. This leap was courtesy of Mike Willmann with some very dedicated help and advocacy with the QSAC organization from Todd Holloway. In Todd's words "Mike has taken it and ran with it." In 2020, the QSAC Dirt Nationals were held at Mark Haecker's Endicott Raceway in Endicott, Nebraska.

The QSAC Dirt Nationals started out as solely a sprint car class for the event. in 2020, the Dirt National Championship welcomed the East Coast Modified (ECM) class into the fold. The ECMs were very well received and their addition opened the door for Super-Truck to be added for the 2021 Dirt National Championship.

2021 will see some changes for this event; a very subtle change to the naming of the event as it will be referred to as the QSAC Dirt National Championship for 2021 and going forward. 2021 will also see the addition of a QSAC Dirt Track Rules Addendum that outlines specific techinical specification differences from our standard QSAC Rules Package. There has also been a strong effort to create a more formal itinerary and race format outline for the QSAC Dirt National Championship. This itinerary and race format can be viewed and downloaded below.

As with just about anything that is worthwhile, it takes time, effort, and dedication. QSAC would like to extend a heart-felt thank you to the following individuals for chartering this path; Scott George, Fred Murry, Randy Baker, Todd Holloway, and Mike Willmann. Without your commitment and passion, we would not be where we are; thank you.
