Greetings QSAC members
in our lives, there are always moments we look back upon; sometimes with favor; sometimes with sadness; and sometimes with mixed feelings.
Just prior to the start of the 2019 QSAC National Championship, Tom Standridge of Anderson, SC stopped by to share the news that he and his two brothers had purchased Bishop Racing Products (BRP) from Todd Bishop. Todd is looking forward to enjoying a good retirement and spending time with his family.
To those that may not be aware, Todd Bishop is one of the pioneers of quarter scale racing having been a provider of racing tires to the quarter scale community for 30 years. To say Todd has had a big impact on quarter scale would be a gross understatement.
I’m not certain how, exactly, one can put into words what Todd has provided over the years? Todd was always available through a quick phone call, or was always very timely with an email response. Todd was also great about standing behind his product and the quality of the build. Todd operated with honesty and integrity through BRP.Todd will surely be missed in the quarter scale community. Thank you, Todd, for all you have done for quarter scale racing over the years. You’ve left a great legacy with your efforts over the past 30 years. Enjoy your retirement!
While it is sad that we will no longer have Todd’s involvement, there is a positive to be taken away with the news of Todd’s retirement. QSAC welcomes the new owners of BRP, the Standridge brothers, to the world of quarter scale racing. Tom and his brothers have spent the better part of 2019 listening, learning, and implementing all of the skills Todd developed and honed over his years of running BRP. As Tom shared at his announcement at LPR during the Nationals, if you have been running any new BRP rubber this spring (after April time-frame), it was more than likely built by Tom and his brothers under the coaching of Todd Bishop.
At the end of the day, life is about relationships. In our case, the relationships share a common bond of quarter scale racing. Our community is small in the big picture. Let’s not forget that fact; let’s embrace each other while striving to best one another on the race track.
Thank you, Todd Bishop; we wish you all the best in your retirement. Thank you, Tom Strandridge and brothers; we are thankful you were willing to take over the reins of BRP going forward.
Regards,
Scott Harper
