Curtis “The Handler” Babbitt goes back-to-back in ECM

,

With the close of the third annual QSAC National Championship, we proudly crown the champions from the respective classes.

For 2019, five classes were offered for competition; Limited Sportsman, ECM (East Coast Modified), Sportsman, Grand National, and Sprint.

The East Coast Modified Class (ECM), sponsored by QSAC, saw a group of a ten racers compete for the chance to be champion for 2019.  From the drop of the green flag, it was apparent that perennial front runner, and multi-time National Champion, Todd Holloway, would have a say in the overall championship.  Todd took the checkers for the first win in the Tuesday A main.  2018’s champion, Curtis Babbitt would finish second serving notice that Todd would not be driving away with the trophy without a fight.  Wednesday’s A main would see Todd struggle coming home in 8th while Curtis showed his muscle taking the win.  With the unfortunate arrival of rain on Friday, the A main for ECM was not run.  Points were awarded based on their qualifying positions.  With this scenario, Curtis Babbitt became a back-to-back ECM National Champion.  While the overall was wrapped up, it would have been interesting to see Todd and Curtis face-off once again.

Congratulations to Curtis Babbitt on his second QSAC National Championship.
