Greetings QSAC members
we hope all are doing well and handling these socially challenging days as best as can be.
We have a few things to share with the membership. At this point, members should have received their ballot and questionnaire from our secretary, Doreen Brown. We ask that all members please complete their ballot at the very least. As of the writing of this message, there have been a total of 30 votes cast for Co-Chair. Let that sink in for a minute; only 30 votes have been cast. Voting closes on September 1st, 2020. If you are mailing your ballot to Doreen via USPS, it has to be postmarked by September 1st, 2020.
Additionally, we would ask that members take the time to complete the questionnaire. We want to reiterate that the only individual that sees the names on the responses is Doreen. Doreen compiles the responses and shares the response (only) with the two of us (Co-Chairs). We want your feedback and responses; whether they are good, bad, or indifferent. We want an environment where members can communicate their thoughts and know they are being heard.
August 1st, 2020 is the deadline for submitting ideas for potential rules changes for the 2021 QSAC Rules Package. If you go to QSAC.org and click on the “QSAC ONLINE FORMS” tab, you will find a button that will take you to a form to complete for any rules change suggestions you may have. This is your opportunity to present ideas to the leadership. The two Co-Chairs along with Rules Committee Chair receive the rules change requests to view, discuss, and possibly submit to the Rules Ratification Committee (RRC) for consideration.
There has been a change in ownership for a long-running quarter scale manufacturer.Predator Race Cars was sold and will be marketed under the name Predator Quarterscale. Michael Fenicchia purchased the business from Joel Hughes during the month of June. With this change in ownership comes a change to the RRC as well. Michael will be taking over the slot held by Joel previously. We welcome Michael to the RRC, and wish him well in his endeavors as a quarter scale manufacturer. You can find updated information for Predator Quarterscale on the manufacturer’s page on the QSAC.org website.
With the addition of Michael to the RRC, that creates a need to fill the member at large slot opposite of Michael in the RRC. We are pleased to announce the addition of Mike Lubanovich to the RRC as a member at large. We reached out to Mike and asked him to share a bit about himself, and here’s what he shared with us: Mike is a long-time racer; started in full size cars in the 80s and 90s, then started R/C in the late 1990s. Mike would race dirt oval in Phoenix and traveled the Nitro Tour back in the day. Mike operated R/C Sports Mania Raceway in Phoenix for about 7 years. When the track closed, Mike tried 1/4 scale racing around 2005.Mike is hands-on, and likes solving problems and building things. Mike expressed that he has always worked on a budget, so he understands how hard it is to win with limited funds. Mike believes he will bring a balanced perspective of rules and costs to help the committee.
We welcome Michael and Mike to the RRC. Thank you for stepping up and being invested in the organization and its path going forward.
In closing, we wish all of our members a safe and enjoyable summer. Stay safe, and enjoy any chance you get to be on the track this summer.
