Greetings QSAC Members,
We hope you have had an enjoyable Thanksgiving and are anxiously looking forward to Christmas.
We wanted to share with the membership something that we have been working on the past month or so. We are looking to present to the RRC a proposal to include the G240RC as an optional engine choice for racers. If passed, this would include being legal for the 2021 QSAC Five Star Hobbies National Championship in June as well as the 2021 Five Star Hobbies Dirt Nationals in August.
To provide some background, we have recently evaluated a total of five (5) G240RC engines. Our previous National Tech Director, Todd Holloway, and veteran racer and chassis builder, Terry Rea, both performed a tech inspect of the engines. Both Todd H. and Terry came up with very similar numbers to one another (without either of them knowing what the other had measured until after the fact). It was found that the tech numbers achieved were within the current tolerance limits that are present for the G23RC and G230RC.
Our plan is to keep the current set of rules and guidelines for the G23RC and G230RC as they are; no changes.
The G240RC will only be allowed to be used in a box-stock configuration. This means the following:
1. G240RC will only be allowed the use OEM / Factory gaskets.
2. G240RC will not be allowed the use of gasket sealer between the cylinder head and crank case.
3. G240RC must maintain the third bearing on the crank.
4. G240RC will be allowed to use gasket sealer if/when using the stock phenolic block and QSAC restrictor plate (the same as the G23RC and G230RC in this instance).
Given the tech inspect numbers that were measured, it is our intention to have the tech inspection numbers and process be the same for the G23RC, the G230RC, and the G240RC engines; meaning the measurements that are provided on page 16 of the 2020 QSAC Rules Package will be the same for the G23RC, G230RC, and the G240RC, if the proposal is approved.
We would like to present this proposed engine option to the RRC very soon. Being realistic that the Christmas holiday is approaching quickly, we are not certain that we can accomplish this task prior to the turn of the New Year. This will result in a delay in releasing the 2021 QSAC Rules Package regardless of the outcome from the submittal to the RRC.
We welcome your comments and input. We ask you to be respectful with your comments and questions as this is a public forum.
Thank you,
Denny Andrews Jr.
