We extend a genuine thank you to the members of the RRC for their participation.

In the interest of full disclosure and transparency, we would also like to share with the membership a concern that was brought up during the course of the process.  Early on, Mike L. brought up a concern regarding the wording surrounding bearing replacement and the fact of the G240RC needing to have a sealed bearing as the third, outer most bearing on the crankshaft.  The reason for this is that on the G240RC this sealed bearing replaces a seal that is present on the G-23RC/G230RC engines.  Without a sealed bearing in this location, the engine will leak.  We too easily dismissed this concern until a few hours before the close of the RRC process as we went back and re-examined the wording we had proposed and realized the error.  We proposed an alternate option to the group approximately four hours before the deadline.  While this was met with a great deal of understanding and acceptance, given the late hour of offering an alternative wording for the details of the third bearing, we have elected to run a follow-up change through the RRC as soon as possible.

This is merely a clarification and will not impact the ability to use the G240RC as an engine option.  This will further delay the release of the 2021 QSAC Rules Package.  While we believe we need to foster a more open and fluid dynamic to the RRC process, we initiated the process without outlining or offering this as an option; rather it was simply a yes/no proposal.

We believe addressing this small change in this manner is the most prudent choice we could make.  We also want to foster a completely open and transparent communication with the membership wherever and whenever possible.

Thank you,
Denny Andrews Jr.
