Greetings QSAC Members
A concern was presented to us recently regarding the SRP Super-Truck body, and more specifically the contour of the front nose. The concern was that the contour of the front nose was actually a splitter and was in violation of the announcement that was posted on March 20th, 2019 (see link here: https://qsac.org/news-blogs/rules-clarification-re-splitter-and-aero-components).
In our evaluation, we took into consideration the following:
– The SRP Super-Truck body has gone through the QSAC approval process.
– The SRP Super-Truck body has been available for purchase and use since 2011, with no changes to the model or design.
– The announcement from March 20th, 2019 was directed at the addition of material to the body; both in front of the front contour of the body, as well as underneath the nose of the body.
– While the Super-Truck class has not been contended at a QSAC National level event since at least 2013, the use of the body has taken place at QSAC NCS events previously, including the 2021 QSAC National Championship without question or concern, and the contour in question had been maintained and not trimmed away.
Given these four points, the SRP Super-Truck is QSAC legal, as molded. If a racer chooses to keep the lower front contour or, if a racer chooses to cut off the lower front contour; the body is considered legal (assuming it meets all other technical specifications).
We believe this choice is the best interest of both the racers and the manufacturers.
Thank you,
Denny Andrews Jr.
