Greetings QSAC members
we are writing to share some QSAC related news with the membership.
QSAC has some bittersweet news regarding the role of National Tech Director. Alex Livingston recently approached us about stepping down from his role as National Tech Director. We were very sad to hear of Alex’s request, but we stand with Alex and his choice. We have absolute respect and admiration for Alex’s choice and the manner in which he came to us. Thank you, Alex, for putting the time and effort into the role, and all of the time and effort with Todd Holloway learning the art and craft of our technical inspection process. The sweet side of this bittersweet announcement is that Alex will maintain his role as Central District – Northern Region representative with QSAC.
With the news of Alex’s departure, QSAC has an opening for a member that would be willing to take on a long-term role as National Tech Director. QSAC is also looking to fill other representative roles in the Western Region and Easter Region, along with the Committee Level role of Long Range Planning. You can see the open representative roles by visiting the following page on the QSAC website: QSAC Leadership , and the open Committee Roles by visiting the following page on the QSAC website: QSAC Committee Members If you are interested in any of these roles, please reach out to either one of us and we can discuss your interest and possible filling of the one of these roles within QSAC.
We also have a few changes taking place with the RRC. With Michael Fenicchia’s sale of Predator Race Cars to Bob Leydecker this past fall, the result of that sale takes Michael out of the role of manufacturer. Subsequently, this includes a departure from the RRC as a manufacturer. We also received notification from Billy Bradford this past fall that he wanted to be removed from the RRC. We held off making this announcement with the hope that he would choose to stay on board. However, that is not the case and Billy’s request has been fulfilled with his removal from the RRC.
In light of the departure of Michael and Billy from the RRC, QSAC welcomes Bob Leydecker (Bob’s Motorsports) and Mike Clark (SRP Racing) to the RRC as manufacturer representatives. Additionally, QSAC would like to acknowledge a shift in representation from the Sonic Race Cars camp as Ryan Canada will be taking over the representative slot from Randy DeLapp.
We are putting together a rules change proposal for the QSAC Dirt Track Addendum for 2022. We have been in dialogue with Mike Willmann and Todd Holloway working on some clarification regarding dirt track racing tires and their measurements. We are also working on a new, more efficient way to communicate tire requirements for wheel, host and tread values. When this change proposal is sent to the RRC, there will be a public post made with the specifics of the change proposal. Additionally, if the proposed change is accepted by the RRC, we anticipate leveraging this new, more efficient way of communicating tire requirements into the QSAC Rules Package for 2023.
It’s already February 2022, and that good springtime weather is just around the corner. We hope you are enjoying your winter break (unless you’re in the Southwest part of the country), and we hope you are looking forward to a great year of racing quarter scales. We hope you are looking forward to the 2022 QSAC Paved National Championship coming up in June at MPR. The crew at MPR are diligently getting prepared for the event, and will undoubtedly put on a fantastic program for all of the racers in attendance. Likewise, Mike Willmann has been preparing for the 2022 Mennare Aerosports QSAC Dirt National Championship coming up in August. Two great opportunities to compete for QSAC National Championships in 2022! Be sure to check out both events.
Thank you,
Todd Bishop
