Greetings QSAC members,
We hope the summer has been enjoyable for all of the membership. It’s hard to believe we are over half-way through the year 2022!
We wanted to reach out to the membership to address some issues and concerns that have been communicated to the two of us regarding wear/sealing issues on the G240RC engine. As an organization, we are well aware of the wear/sealing issues and challenges that have been brought to light this calendar year. We have not taken these challenges lightly; not in the least bit. We have been doing investigative work trying to understand the issues regarding the wear.
It is our intention to submit a change request to the Rules Ratification Committee (RRC) by the end of July. In generic terms, our proposal will offer an alternative replacement option of an OEM Oil Seal (as used on the G230RC engine) for the third bearing (located on the clutch side) on the G240RC engine. We want to present a thorough and rationally sound rules change proposal to the RRC, and this requires time and effort. We need to be certain that we have done our diligence in examining the current rules package as well as having the pending change ready to present to the RRC.
We sincerely appreciate the communication, concern, and passion that have been expressed about the wear/sealing issue on the G240RC engine. We ask for your continued patience as we work through the RRC process.
Thank you,
Todd Bishop
