Greetings QSAC members:
Recently, we were presented with a question regarding line item 8.3.14. which reads “Velocity Stacks allowed in Sprint Car, ECM and Grand National.” The question presented to us was “Why isn’t Super-Truck allowed to use a velocity stack?”
In looking back and discussing this question with previous Co-Chairs, we were able to determine the following. Since its inception back in the late 1990’s, Super-Truck has always been allowed to use a velocity stack. In 2013, the QSAC Rules Package saw the creation of the “Allowable Engine Changes” section. In line 14 of the Allowable Engine Changes section, the description read “14. Velocity Stacks allowed in Sprint Car, Super Truck, Super Late Model, and Grand National Classes”. However, in the 2014 QSAC Rules Package, line 14 was changed to read “14. Velocity Stacks allowed in Sprint Car, ECM and Grand National.” There is no documentation of this change in the change record for the 2014 rules package release. We can only assume this was done in error. Additionally, the use of a velocity stack preceded the implementation of the red (8.5mm) and blue (10.0mm) restrictor plates, as well as the addition of the red and blue manifolds.
Given this information, we are correcting line item 8.3.14. to read as follows:
8.3.14. Velocity Stacks are allowed to be used in East Coast Modified (ECM), Grand National, Sprint, and Super-Truck classes.
We have updated the 2023 QSAC Rules Package to reflect this clerical error correction, and have updated the change record at the back of the rules package to document the change.
We hope everyone has a Merry Christmas, and we wish all of our members a very safe and Happy New Year!
Thank you,
Todd Bishop
