Greetings QSAC members
With September 1st coming and going, we have completed another QSAC Co-Chair election. Before we get into details, we want to extend a big thank you to Brian Howard, Chris Landers, and Todd Bishop for being willing to be candidates for QSAC Co-Chair; thank you, gentlemen.
Voter turnout for the QSAC Co-Chair election resulted in a total of 53 ballots cast.In terms of percentage of overall membership, that is approximately 17% of the of the membership that chose to cast a vote.
The votes cast for QSAC Co-Chair are as follows (in alphabetical order based on last name):
Todd Bishop: 29 votes
Brian Howard: 7 votes
Chris Landers: 17 votes
QSAC congratulates Todd Bishop on his re-election win as your next Co-Chair. Todd’s second term will be a continuation starting on November 1st, 2022, and run through October 31st, 2024. Congratulations, Todd.
Due to the resignation of Will Landers, the organization has been left in a unique position given the timing of Will’s resignation taking place during an election. I had originally posted that I would name a successor to Will in early August; prior to the end of the Co-Chair election. However, given the timing and circumstances, I made a conscious choice to wait until the Co-Chair election had been completed. I did this for two reasons; one, to not inadvertently impact or effect the election cycle, and two, in case I had not won re-election, I wanted to allow the Co-Chair elect to have some input on who he would be working with during the first year of his term.
Given the above, I am pleased to announce that I have appointed Chris Landers as Will Landers replacement as Co-Chair, effective immediately. Chris will fulfill the final 14 months of Will’s elected term, which will come to a close on October 31st, 2023. I believe this is a good choice for the organization as it affords the opportunity for someone new to QSAC leadership, and takes into account a partial reflection of the recently completed ballot returns from the just completed Co-Chair election (Chris was runner-up). Also, as a reminder, Chris and Will are of no relation to one another; they just happen to share the same last name.
In closing, I would like to impress upon the membership a continued point of concern; a lack of involvement with the organization. We had approximately 17% of the membership determining the next Co-Chair for the organization. This lack of involvement is not limited to voter turnout, but is also shown other ways; a lack of willingness to volunteer (numerous slots are open and looking to be filled); a lack of rules change proposals (we see and read numerous comments about wanting X or Y changed, but no change proposals were submitted); we just are not seeing our membership being invested in the organization. We truly want our membership involved and invested; we assure you that all ideas are read/heard and evaluated.
We hope everyone has a safe and healthy last few weeks of summer, as well as a great fall season. Please join me in welcoming Chris Landers as your new QSAC Co-Chair. I am excited about the upcoming year and all great opportunities that a new year has to offer
Thank you,
Todd Bishop
