G240RC – Further Clarification Regarding Sealer / Sealant Concerns – QSAC Updates – QSAC | Quarter Scale Auto Club

Greetings QSAC members,

We are writing to you, the membership, as a follow-up to the post that was shared on QSAC.org from our Competition Committee Chairman, Mike Sadler.

As an organization, we attempt to do our due diligence regarding any topic or point of concern that is brought to us.  Following up with the information that was shared with us from Mike, it was our understanding that there were claims that Zenoah was providing engines that had a sealer or sealant that had been used between the ID of the third bearing (outer bearing on the clutch side) and the OD of the crankshaft.  For context and communication purposes, sealer or sealant, in generic terms, is something like Loctite or an agent similar in nature to Loctite.  Through our investigation, we heard different speculations and reasons as to “why” the individuals believed Zenoah was providing engines with the sealer/sealant.

During communication with Zenoah, it was made abundantly clear that the G240RC engines are NOT and have NOT been coming from the factory with sealer or sealant as described above.

Based on this information from Zenoah, we are reiterating the message that was delivered in Mike’s post on Thursday, May 5th, 2022.  The use or sealer or sealant on the bearings, crankshaft, or between any of the three bearings and crankshaft is ILLEGAL.

Regarding the upcoming 2022 QSAC Paved National Championship at MPR in June, the G240RC engine is absolutely LEGAL to be used in competition.  The top finishers from each day’s events are subject to tear-down on Friday afternoon/evening after the completion of the Friday Finale.  The criteria listed above will be scrutinized during engine tear down.

If you have questions or concerns regarding this topic, please feel free to reach out to either one of us as we will be glad to answer any questions.

As always, comments and suggestions can be made to the organization through the QSAC RULES / SUGGESTION FORM found on the QSAC website at this location: QSAC FORMS

Time is moving quickly, and we are excited and looking forward to seeing you at the 2022 QSAC Paved National Championship at MPR in June!

Thank you,
Todd Bishop
