Announcements, Updates, and News in the Quarter Scale World! – QSAC Updates – QSAC | Quarter Scale Auto Club

Greeting QSAC members!

We hope the first month of 2021 has been good to you and your families.  We would like to share a handful of announcements and updates with the membership.

Reduced pricing for memberships and track sanctioning fees for 2021 are in effect until March 31st, 2021.After this date, pricing will revert back to the normal pricing.  In addition to the incentive for a reduction in membership fees, all members that have paid their 2021 QSAC membership fees by March 31st are eligible for the QSAC Partnership   Raffle.  For the past couple of years, the raffle prizes were a free membership for the following year.  For 2021, we are adding to the raffle-winning mix with the inclusion of four (4) G240RC engines, complete with a WYK-194 carburetor.  These four engines were used in the evaluation, measurement, and analysis of the G240RC engine prior to introducing technical inspection criteria for the QSAC Rules Package.  All four engines are new, never used.  By renewing or purchasing your QSAC membership prior to March 31st, 2021, you are showing your support for the organization as well as having an opportunity to win a G240RC engine.

Within the coming week, QSAC members will receive an electronic copy of the recently resurrected QSAC Newsletter.  This initial edition was generated by the leadership as a kick-start to bolstering quarter scale racing and increasing the hope of engaging others that may be on the outside looking in.  It is our hope that racers will print and/or share electronically this newsletter with others.  Subsequent editions of the newsletter and its content will be handled by two volunteers; Jose “TITO” Torres, and Chris Johnson.  We extend a big thank you to these two for being willing to step-up and help out.  Additionally, we are asking the membership to help both Tito and Chris with their efforts.  How can you help?  You can help by providing race reports, point standings, and/or being willing to contribute other content for the newsletter.  Please contact Tito and Chris for specific details.

One last bit of news to share with the members.  We are actively working to reformat the QSAC Rules Package.  As some of you are aware, updating and maintaining our QSAC Rules Package document can be extremely challenging.  While the document is a Word type file, the architecture of the document is challenging to edit; even for a seasoned Word person.  We also receive feedback that the “column” structure is difficult to follow at times.  The intention is to really clean-up the document so that it is easier to read; easier to maintain; easier to navigate; and much clearer to understand.

The above list of intentions will be accomplished with two basic efforts:
1. Remove the “text box” or columns throughout the document.
2. Reduce redundancy without removing content or intent.

Bullet point #1 will be easy to recognize with the forthcoming 2021 QSAC Rules Package.

Bullet point #2 will be a work in progress, and will have two phases.
Phase 1 is to release the 2021 Rules Package by March 1st, 2021.However, we ask your patience as the work being completed is tedious and the March 1st, 2021 date may be aggressive.  Phase 1 will include the removal of the NCS/NCS Showdown portion of the rules package.  This section is basically redundant with the race format portion.  Additionally, with the advent of the National Championship in 2017, QSAC has released an updated format and itinerary for the National Championship.  This essentially nullifies the need to maintain the NCS/NCS Showdown portion of the rules package.  We took the time to isolate each one of the race format sections (regular/weekly and the NCS/NCS Showdown sections) from the 2020 QSAC Rules Package and evaluate them against one another.  We received evaluation help from Todd Holloway and Randy Brown in this process.  We believe we have completed this to the best of our abilities.  We chose to stop our efforts at this point as this was a significant amount of work.  This will be the extent of the Phase 1 changes.  Once released, we ask for your candid feedback if you see any discrepancies or things that may have been missed.  Please feel free to call, email, or private message either of us, or Joe Brooks.

Once Phase 1 of the reformatting effort is released, we will form a committee to help with Phase 2. This will be a far deeper evaluation to remove further redundancy and strive to make the QSAC Rules Package even easier to read and understand.  We will work to establish a committee to work with Joe Brooks to further refine the rules package; this will be Phase 2.Our hope and intention would be to have this completed before the end of the 2021 calendar year as we envision this being an even more tedious task than Phase 1.

Thank you for taking the time to read and absorb all of this information.  The details around the rules package may sound overwhelming, but we ask for your patience as we work through the changes.

As of this writing, there are still plenty of question marks for our day-to-day lives.  We are continuing to work with the DFW crew and our planning for the 2021 Five Star Hobbies QSAC National Championship.  Pre-registration is open; it’s a great way to help with planning for QSAC and the DFW crew, as well as your opportunity to get a free event t-shirt (one per pre-registered racer).

We hope all of you are doing well and we look forward to a great 2021 season of quarter scale racing.

Thank you,
Denny Andrews Jr.
