2nd Generation racer Raber brings home first National Championship
,
With the close of the third annual QSAC National Championship, we proudly crown the champions from the respective classes.
For 2019, five classes were offered for competition; Limited Sportsman, ECM (East Coast Modified), Sportsman, Grand National, and Sprint.
The Limited Sportsman class, sponsored by Bret Ketner’s Boar Hog Racing Engines, saw a rather “large” shift for the 2019 season; a 5″ spoiler was introduced to provide a clear technical specification difference in comparison with Sportsman, as well as provide a level of security for the newer racer to allow more racing.
One of the talking points about this class was the sharp contrast age and experience of the racers; a mix of seasoned racers and some very young racers. It was shared that the competitors were exceptionally cordial to one another throughout the event. One LPR local described the overall feel as a coaching or mentoring session throughout the week with the seasoned veterans giving support and encouragement to the younger racers.
A total of eight racers competed for the chance to earn the championship. Close racing was witnessed in each of the three A mains, with two different winners. Ethan Bradford would bookend the week with a win in the Tuesday A and the Friday Finale, while Steve Brooks would win the Wednesday A. Even with his two wins, an unfortunate 7th place finish in the Wednesday A would relegate Ethan to a 2nd place overall finish.
Consistency ultimately won out as Jarrett Raber would bring home 2nd place finishes in all three events, cementing his championship win. Congratulations to Jarrett Raber on his first QSAC National Championship.
