Greetings QSAC members
with the close of the 2019 QSAC National Championship, there has already been a considerable amount of discussion taking place regarding the 2020 event.
As most are aware, we have held a reverse lottery (last out wins) to determine which track would host the following years event. To date, we have had five tracks put in for the event (Clover, MPR, LPR, DFW and Algona). Based on our original outlook and vision, tracks would be eligible to submit for consideration after three years. Given that we have only had five tracks submit for consideration, we are down to the last two from that group (DFW and Algona).
We (the Co-Chairs) met with Gerald Babbitt (DFW) and William Bradford (Algona) during the Nationals this past week to discuss possibilities and options for 2020 and 2021. DFW has been involved in the lottery each year; Algona has been involved all but the first year. Given this scenario, we have reached an agreement to have DFW host the 2020 QSAC National Championship and Algona to host the 2021 QSAC National Championship. This allows the remaining two tracks that have participated in the lottery their opportunity to host the next two National Championships.
In addition to announcing the host tracks for the next two QSAC National Championships, we would also like to announce a shift in dates for the event. Safety is a big concern, and the heat and humidity that have been experienced the past three years has been a challenge to say the least. Taking this into account, as well as keeping the entire membership in mind, we will be shifting this event to be held the week of June 8th – 13th, , 2020.
Please note, while the location has been determined, and a week has been designated on the calendar, there are and will continue to be further discussion of other details of the National Championship that will need to be addressed. This list of items includes, but is not limited to, the format for the event, and the duration and/or days of the event. As stated earlier in this announcement, there is already a considerable amount of conversation taking place. We want the membership to know they are being heard, and their thoughts and opinions being considered.
We thank you for your continued support and input, and look forward to sharing more details as they become solidified.
Thank you,
Scott Harper
