Rules Clarification – QSAC Updates – QSAC | Quarter Scale Auto Club

 Greetings QSAC members

Recently, there was an image posted on ¼ Scale Bench Talk that showed what is best described as a diffuser underneath the rear bumper foam of a stock car bodied quarter scale race car.

Use of such devices is clearly against the 2019 QSAC Rules Package.  This rule is clearly documented on page 21, Technical Specifications, Grand National, Bodies; specifically line item number 5.  It reads as follows: “5. No underbody ground effects.”

While this is listed under the Grand National section, the technical specifications for Sportsman, Limited Sportsman, Super-Truck and East Coast Modified (ECM) classes all refer back to this rule under the statement “Unless otherwise listed below, all other specifications from the Grand National and General Specifications apply.” in their respective areas.

While this image was captured at a weekly event, we felt we would be remiss to not address this as it had gained considerable conversation on social media.

As stated in a previous announcement, we view and believe the rules to be such that an open interpretation is not an acceptable method by which to read these rules (in other words, just because it does not say you cannot, does not mean that you can or should be able to do “X”).

Thank you for your time.  We look forward to seeing you at the 2019 QSAC National Championship at LPR in Montgomery, AL in July!
